I don know that you correct about that one, Gautam Gupta. I think that the headphones are manufactured by Monster. Beats Electronics is owned by Dr. Dre Monster Beats Outlet (of NWA fame) and Jimmy Iovine (one of the great music producers/ label heads of all time). Beats was formed in 2006 and entered a strategic partnership with Monster Cable. It has been a wildly successful venture for both firms with Dre and Iovine company receiving the $300 Million investment from HTC that you mentioned above Gautam.

Music artist 50 cent attempted to launch a competing headphone previously but monster beats the strategic partnership that he entered with a headphone manufacturer fell apart. Beats electronics is the clear leader in this new (-ish) product category but other artists have attempted to break into the action. So far, they have all failed.

50 cent recently retooled his headphone line and has announced that he is going to release a new line of headphones. The interesting thing about 50 cent venture is that he purchased a manufacturer to make his line of headphones. In theory, that should give him a bigger piece of the pie but it also will presumably expose him to a much greater degree of risk.
